For Dakota Dawn, reading romance has been a passion of hers for a long time. She usually doesn’t have a clue what’s on TV or at the movie theaters. When people are shocked that she don’t know what’s playing, she just smiles and tells them she lives in a cave 😉
A love of hers is bringing joy to others through the tales she weaves of dominatingly sexy men, witty women, good friends, and scorching scenes that get your juices flowing.
Characters pop into her head, she grabs a pen, and the journey begins. The trip through fantasyland to happily-ever-after is always a fascinating ride. Thank goodness it is a ride one can take over and over again.
Q: The blood wine that the Wyckoff brothers produce is such a unique and clever touch to the world of the Vamp Mates series. What inspired it?
A: The idea just popped into my head and I loved it. If I were a vampire I’d make blood wine.
Q: You have written several paranormal stories. What appeals to you about this genre?
A: That there are no limits. My characters can be anybody and do anything imaginable.
Q: The vampires in the Vamp Mates series have some amazing abilities that are not always present in traditional vampire lore, such as telekinesis, empathy, and a form of teleportation called “misting.” How did you come up with this distinctive vampire mythos?
A: That’s easy. Any powers I want I give to my characters!
Q: In Caught by His Vampire Mate, Attinie of Roseanthia serves as the theatrical and deliciously evil villainess that makes life difficult for the heroes. Will we see more of her schemes as the Vamp Mates series continues?
A: Oh yes! Attinie will be devilishly dedicated to her cause for several books.
Q: Which character do you like writing more: the protagonist or the villain? Why?
A: That depends on the day. If I’m feeling nice and honorable, the protagonist is easier to write. When I’m feeling dark I love to pen an evil villain.
Q: What’s the most memorable sex scene from one of your books? Why?
A: The last scene in Caught by His Vampire Mate. Tristan’s inner beast takes over and stalks Conlin before he pins his prey and pulls out several toys. I can easily picture Conlin quivering in ecstasy as Tristan plays with his bound body. 😉
Q: What do you do to relax or get the creative juices flowing when you are struggling to meet your writing goals or deadlines?
A: I turn on music and dance to the beat. Sometimes I even sing loudly off-key.
Q: What person, record, and book would you take with you to a desert island?
A: Whoo Hoo! For music I’d bring The Very Best of Michael Bolton. The book I’d bring is Caught by His Vampire Mate, because it’s sweet, passionate, and has a devilish villain. My hubby would have to come along too. He’d come in handy after I read one of the smokin’ scenes in the book. 😉
Q: Who do you look up to? What are some of their qualities that you strive to possess as well?
A: I admire underdogs. They strive to create change or go for goals that seem out of reach. A goal of each of my stories is to show that love comes in all sizes and shapes. Love cannot be defined by a closed, small mind.
Q: One of your books is going to be adapted into a film. Which one? And who plays the main characters?
A: Mate of Two Vampires [Vamp Mates 3]. This one would be a good choice because it is passionate and the characters grow so much.
Ryan Reynolds would play Darrin McLauchlan
Ian Somerhalder would play Zotikos Vaughter
Anna Paquin would play Pierce Linden
