For some, the concept of men using vibrators is surprising or confusing. Vibrators have become less and less taboo over time—thanks to shows like Sex and the City—and though it’s great that women are becoming more open about their toys, the relative lack of male voices about the wonders of vibration makes it easy to understand why some may think, “No boys allowed.”

After all, vibrators are historically associated with women. In the late 1860s, they were invented to help doctors treat the “female nervous condition” known as hysteria. The only known cure for this ailment was hysterical paroxysm—an orgasm. (That seems to cross some doctor–patient boundaries, doesn’t it?) However, according to a 2009 study, almost half of all men have used a vibrator. A little more than half of all women have used a vibrator, so the men are catching up! And since they’ve come a long way from their “medical” past, there’s no reason for even more men to keep from trying one out!

Used solo or with a partner, vibrators can add a level of sensation that, frankly, another person would never be able to reach, which should appeal to everyone.  With so many options available and some excellent sites with comprehensive customer reviews, men can experiment until they find what’s best for them. Several sites have compiled lists of the best vibrators for men and how to use them. Check out the links below!
